PAPIER-MÂCHÉ

The technique of papier-mâché enabled Nhuch to expand from 2D reliefs to much larger, though lighter 3D sculptures, while experimenting with circular yet uneven, imperfect, voluptuous shapes. Playing on Arte Povera concepts of materiality, simplicity, and imperfection, and influenced by artists who explore mundane materials such as Franz West and Lynda Benglis, Nhuch developed a series of monochromatic works, based on roughly exposed materials with a raw voluptuous look and feel.
